Cantabria is a Spanish province and autonomous community. It is bordered on the east by the Basque Country, on the south by Castile and León, on the west by the Principality of Asturias, and on the north by the Bay of Biscay. Its capital is the city of Santander.
The region has a humid oceanic climate, with warm summers and mild winters. The mean temperature is about 14ºC. Snow is frequent in higher zones of Cantabria between the months of October and March. The driest months are July and August, although droughts are unheard-of because rain is frequent and temperatures never get particularly high.
The province of Cantabria boasts an astoundingly beautiful, well-preserved wilderness full of contrasts, as well as a long tradition of fine cuisine and a very extensive cultural heritage.
The Altamira Caves, which date back nearly 10,000 years, the Roman hot baths at Camesa Rebolledo and the Picos de Europa are just a few of the unique places you can see in this region in the north of Spain, where you will be welcomed with open arms.
