Granada is a province of southern Spain, in the eastern part of the autonomous community of Andalusia. It is bordered by the provinces of Málaga, Córdoba, Jaén, Albacete, Murcia, Almería, and the Mediterranean Sea. Its capital is Granada.

The province of Granada offers enormous climactic contrasts in a relatively small area. Within its essentially Continental climate matrix, and despite a median year-round temperature of 14,8ºC, the month of January sees a median temperature of 6º but with maximum values in the 20's, while August enjoys a 25ºC average, with maximums passing 40ºC. There is a marked contrast between the long durations of summer and winter and the brevity of spring and fall. Rainfall is meager and falls mainly between the months of October and May. Granada summers are practically rain free.

Granada brings in a number of tourists with its Moorish architecture and famous Alhambra. In the winter the mountains of the Sierra Nevada play host to a small but thriving ski industry; these are Europe's most southerly ski resorts. The tallest mountain in continental Spain, Mulhacén, is located in Granada. Besides its capital city, this province has many things to do for entertainment and leisure, such as hiking on the lower mountains of the Sierra Nevada known as Las Alpujarras.
